Hello! We are the cub section, and we meet on a Thursday evening, 7pm til’ 8:30pm, during school term time. Cubs is for boys and girls 8 to 10 ½.
We are the section in-between Beavers and Scouts – we aim continue to try new activity’s and to make new friends, learning useful and practical skills along the way, whilst (and most importantly) having fun!
There are currently 22 Cubs within our ever growing pack, along with the 3 leaders
Mark (Group Scout leader), I have been with group since a beaver at the age 5. I went through each section of the 5th til’ the age of 16 when I should have moved on the District explorers but that wasn’t for me so i stayed with the 5th to help out with the beavers and the cubs. At 18, I took on the role of Assistant Cub Scout leader and I stayed in this role for 3 years before moving to Scouts to help restart the section. 7 years later, I was to come back to cubs and took on the role of Cub Scout Leader. Alongside this role, 4 years ago a took on the role of Group Scout Leader and started to oversee the running of the three sections and the group itself.
Dan (Cubs/Scouts leader),
Alan (Cubs leader).
Who are Cubs?
What are the main aims of being a Cub Scout? Well we…
– Master new skills and try new things
– Have fun and go on adventures
– Make friends
– Are curious about the world around us
– Help others and make a difference, in our own community and beyond
Every week, we gather in groups called Cub Packs to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything we set our minds to do, and having lots of fun along the way.
Badges and Awards
Throughout your time within the Cub section, we work towards many badges and awards which young people can achieve during their time with us.
Our termly programme is designed to be fun and engaging, whilst also preparing young people with skills for life.
From backwards cooking to animal caring, astronomy to time on the water, there really is a great variety to get stuck in with. Come along and let’s see how many badges you can achieve!
This is the Cubs uniform. It mainly consists of a Green jumper, with a neckerchief – which you gain when you become invested to the 5th Bebington group.
Please see the image to the right regarding where to sew on badges the Cubs have achieved.
