The Scouting Uniform
Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel part of the group. Our uniform consists of a sweatshirt that you can sew badges on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent your local group. There are lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, trousers or shorts.
Where to buy
Uniform for sections can be purchased from a number of suppliers. Local shops include;
Wirral Scout Shop, Birkenhead (www.birkenheadscouts.org.uk/AboutUs/Scout-Shop)
Wirral Uniform Centre, Birkenhead (www.wirraluniforms.com/)
The Schoolwear Outlet, Neston (www.schoolwearoutlet.com/)
The Other Uniform Store, Brimstage (www.schoolstuff.direct/)
Alternatively, you could order direct via the official Scout Store (www.shop.scouts.org.uk/), or via Amazon and eBay too. We would encourage parents to hand spare, used, good condition uniform down to younger children who may be starting within the group as this will reduce the cost for many.
Badges and Neckerchiefs
Upon investiture to the group, young people will be given a neckerchief, and their main group badges – the Scouts membership badge (purple Fleur de lis), district badge (white with Bebington logo and flag), and the group’s name tape badge (green stripe with group name). These badges remain with the individual throughout their time with us and must be transferred between uniforms when they move section, along with their red 5th Bebington neckerchief.
